| Posthumously awarded to the families of Croatian and foreign citizens who, symbolised forever in honourable remembrance, fell in battle for the Croatian State in war, the direct threat of war, or in exceptional circumstances in peace.

| Awarded, in their absence, to the families of Croatian and foreign citizens who disappeared in the course of the War for the Homeland.
9,940 with gilt or silver plaitwork have been awarded.

| The Order of the Croatian Cross |
| Awarded to Croatian and foreign citizens who were badly wounded taking part in the War for the Homeland.
This has been likened to the United Statesﾒ Purple Heart. Medals are awarded to persons classified as 60% permanently disabled and above.
