BRITISH LEGIONNAIRE

Thursday, May 10, 2007

The Association's Secretary Daniel Kington has appeared in the first 2006 edition of the magazine of the Royal British Legion, Britains national veterans organisation with over 500,000 members worldwide. Since 2004 Daniel has given up some of his spare time to work as a volunteer welfare caseworker for his local Legion branch, helping war veterans with their social problems and obtaining money to buy items such as stair lifts, wheelchairs and organising holidays for them and their relatives It is similar to Kingtons daytime job as a manager at the Department for Work & Pensions, as well as his work for CFIVA; I dont know why I was singled out from thousands of other caseworkers for special attention, said Kington, But the article was extremely complimentary and I hope will encourage more people to work as welfare caseworkers in their areas. It is extremely rewarding work and it has been my privilege to have met some very interesting people indeed. We urge all our members to become involved in the (non-political) veterans organisations in their own countries. For further details about the Royal British Legion go to: www.britishlegion.org.uk
