Unknown Volunteer

A Bosnian volunteer serving with the Croatian National Guard (ZNG-RH) in the Croatian war of independence. He was defending the ethnically Hungarian village of Laslovo (Szent-Laszlo) near Osijek in eastern Croatia. He was killed during the attack and capture of the village by Serb paramilitaries and the Yugoslav Army on the night of 23-24th November 1991. Two Hungarian and one British volunteer (Edward White) also fell in the battle. The village was occupied, its population murdered or else expelled at gun point and its buildings utterly destroyed.
