Stojan Gogov

One of several International Volunteers from Bulgaria, Stojan joined the Vinkovci Independent Company of 109. Brigade HV and arrived in the Mala Bosna sector of the Vinkovci salient about the 20th November 1991. He fought with great dedication and suffered many privations and danger alongside other International Volunteers in his unit. In recognition of his services he was awarded Croatian citizenship at the end of May 1992. Two days later he was gunned down in his flat by a mental patient. His wife gave birth to their son Stojan two days later. He was a good man, serious but friendly and open. His photograph can be found in the book "Rat i Pivo" by his friend and former International Volunteer Steve Gaunt.
